Meet Our Faculty

Yoga Teachers ~ Meet our Amazing Faculty

Yogacara’s Faculty of Yoga Teachers (aka Yoga Teacher Trainers) are a tight-knit group of Yoga Teachers having formed valuable peer relationships and friendships while working together over the past years.

Each team member brings their own unique style and essence to our Yoga Teacher Training programs giving you, the Student, an opportunity to experience more than one way to learn and teach yoga.  All Yoga Teachers commit to ongoing Continuing Education every year to ensure they are leading the way with the most essential and creative lesson plans.

The Faculty meets several times in between programs to discuss and prepare for upcoming trainings ~ to review what we can do better and to listen to feedback from our recent graduates.  Our Teacher Training Director and Head of Faculty, Helene Whitfield, provides this entire team of Yoga Teachers with structure and support while allowing for each unique personality to shine.

Combined, these elements ensure you have a solid and cohesive Faculty to lead you during your Yoga Teacher Training journey.

Meet Nancy

What was your most memorable teaching experience this past year?
Teaching yoga in the park last summer. Both my students and I love practicing outside, breathing fresh air, seeing the birds fly by and looking up at the sky before Savasana. Even the time I stepped on a bee while moving off my mat to help a student. I calmly sat down to try to remove the stinger and carry on teaching as if nothing happened. By the end of the class, my foot was so swollen that I had to hobble home

Mark Atherton

Lead Teacher Trainer | RYT200

Meet Mark

What was your most memorable teaching experience this past year?
My most memorable teaching experience this past year happened in Costa Rica during a 200 hour training. About half way through the training I led the students on a walking meditation around the grounds of the retreat centre. We had spent the last few days studying the Yoga Sutras and reading about the Yamas and Niyamas. We walked for around 20 minutes and i asked students to notice everything, to spend time looking at the smallest of things. When we returned the the study room, students shared their experience during the walking meditation. For many of the students that 20 minutes spent walking was a huge shift and led to extremely deep wisdom. I was so moved by the profound things they spoke of as they openly shared their souls with each other. That moment made me feel so blessed and grateful to be part of their journey.
